Sue Camp
I have always been focused on personal fitness and vitality, but my passion for nutrition and health found wings with the restaurant and catering business I founded and ran in Windhoek, Namibia for 6 years.
My passion for healthy food
The restaurant started with just four tables in the local Virgin Active gym where I trained, and evolved into an attractive and popular 100-seater health food café. The business was a pioneer in the country, offering fresh and healthy artisan food, and I loved adapting the menu to match seasonal flavours and ingredients.
I became fascinated by the potential for furthering people’s health with diet and lifestyle
My training
After completing a home-study diploma course in nutrition, I became fascinated by the potential for furthering people’s health with diet and lifestyle, so I decided to sell the business and relocate to the UK to study nutrition full-time. After fast-tracking through the BSc degree in 2 years I completed an MSc in Personalised Nutrition.
My areas of speciality include digestive health and immunity, energy balance, healthy and sustainable weight management and Type-2 Diabetes.
My training is grounded in ‘functional medicine’ which emphasises biochemical individuality and the importance of looking at the body as a series of interconnecting systems. Using evidence-based principles of functional nutrition (including appropriate laboratory testing) and effective neuro-linguistic programming techniques, I work with you to establish your personal health and nutrition goals within the limits of your individual time and budget. The intention is to create a personal, effective and manageable nutrition regime, which shows lasting results.
My Masters thesis was focused on Sports Nutrition, looking at the effects of physical performance on the depletion of vitamins and minerals in recreational runners. In addition to sports nutrition my other areas of speciality include digestive health and immunity, energy balance, healthy and sustainable weight management and Type-2 Diabetes. I am a keen runner, I have cycled competitively and I also enjoy swimming and Bikram Yoga.
